Puffins
Another new game this morning with a twist for the puffins, builders & bulldozers protecting the cones
Quick reactions with head shoulders knees ball
Some quick running in red light green light avoiding getting caught by the parents
U9s
With our game being cancelled today, we decided to take the under 10s on and test ourselves to see where we are.
I honestly couldn’t be more proud of the team today. I don’t think they could have done any better in defence. None of them where scared and everyone put a tackle in
We manage to get ourselves on the score sheet a few times as well. Which was huge considering they were a bit bigger and stronger then us at times due to the age gap.
I luck forward to taking them on again later in the year and believe we can get the better of them
Player of the weeks go to two players who have been getting a tough time off their dad's and coaches at the moment and we have asked them to show a little bit more commitment and to throw themselves in to tackling. Both of them did that in the first half today and we saw a vast improvement and commitment from them both. So keep it up guys and well done Barnaby and Sybil.
I could have easily given it to a few players today. And I am so impressed with the team at the moment.
U11s
A last minute fixture saw Bridlington U11s welcome local rivals Scarborough for a fantastic morning of rugby.
The U11s took to Bridlington's first team pitch which was marked out to the maximum permitted size of 60 x 43m with both teams playing 10 a side.
We played two competitive 30 minute matches giving the players plenty of opportunity to put their skills, teamwork & fitness to the test. Bridlington made a strong start to the first quarter showing plenty of attacking intent & taking an early advantage. However, Scarborough came back fighting in the second & third quarters making Bridlington work hard & ensuring it was a competitive contest throughout, especially at the breakdowns.
In the final quarter Bridlington really began to utilise the extra width of the pitch, playing some exceptional rugby. Brid worked brilliantly as a team, moving the ball through the hands & getting it out wide to our fast paced wingers, who made the most of the space available.
Bridlington took the first match 6 - 3 before carrying that momentum into the second game & producing another excellent performance to secure an impressive 11 - 1 Victory
Two fantastic results & another positive morning for the Team. It was particularly pleasing to see the players recognising the space available, playing as a team & putting into practice what we've been working on at training.
A big thank you to Scarborough for making the trip over, It's always great to get these fixtures arranged & give the players the opportunity to develop and enjoy their rugby.
⭐ PLAYERS OF THE WEEK ⭐
JOSH L - For been a great Team Leader & his ability to quickly recognise when he was needed to step in & cover other positions to keep the game moving at a fast pace to get the job done. His fearless tackling & counter rucking kept Scarborough constantly on their toes.
KOBEY G - For been an absolute menace playing hooker, turning over almost ever Scarborough scrum & winning our own. His unreal try scoring runs & his commitment to getting from one side of the pitch to the other to stop Scarborough from crossing over the line
Well Done Lads! Unbelievable efforts today
U14s
A cold and wet Sunday at Driffield made handling the ball more challenging. It was decided on 13 a side and non contested scrums.
A strange match that we seemed to take slowly. We controlled the game and scored the first try through forward play and Jake. Further tries followed with the eventual tally being Jake (2), Harry (2), olly and Rhylee one each. Three fantastic conversions from Milo and one from Josh gave a final result Driffield 0 - Bridlington 38.
Players of the day awarded to Harlan, Harry and Milo.
Well done boys !
